Hey Everyone! My name is Alex and I'm from New York City. I went to high school in NYC, and then I moved to New Orleans where I studied at Tulane University, and I got my Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. Afterwards I went straight to Graduate School in UT -Austin, where I got my Masters in Construction Engineering and Project Management. This is my first time in China, I’ve been here only since February of 2006, and I’m having a great time. The people are so friendly and nice here, I love it. I find the most rewarding part of the teaching experience is the fact that I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. I hope to see you very soon in my class!

Greetings Everyone! My name is Juliana and I have a very diverse background. I was born in Kingston, Ontario Canada but have spent nearly all my life (since I was 3 years old) in the Midwest (the states of Indiana & Illinois). My natural parents were born and raised in Mexico City. As a joke, I would say that I am product of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement – [born in Canada by Mexican Parents and raised in the United States]). I have a stepmother who was born in China and raised in Taiwan and she has been a part of our family since I was 5 years old.
I completed high school and my Bachelor’s degree at DePaul University in the city of Chicago. How many of you know about Michael Jordan or Al Capone? These two famous people are notorious Chicagoans. Perhaps we’ll have an opportunity to chitchat about these things in the future.
My undergraduate major was International Studies with a concentration on International Political Economy and a double minor in Spanish and Economics. During my undergraduate years I lived and studied 6 months in Cholula Puebla in Mexico. I am currently working on my Master in Public Service at DePaul University as well.
I’ve served as an English instructor in Mexico, France and Chicago. I have also worked in a few non-profit organizations in the United States. Most recently, I serve as the Director of Housing for migrant and seasonal farm workers in Illinois.
This is my third trip to China and I look forward to gaining new experiences in China and learning from you too.
